Our Impact
Our grantees are changing the way young multilingual learners are educated in California so that all children can thrive. Sixty percent of young children in California speak a language other than English at home. The dominant education system is not designed to serve multilingual learners, which means these students often face more challenges compared to their monolingual counterparts.
The impact of Emerging Bilingual Collaborative grantees is far and wide, and we are just getting started. Read here to learn about the change we have been so proud to support in our community.
EDUCATOR PREPARATION
Our Impact In
EBC’s investment in EL-WIN helped secure $24 million in grant funds across 3 county offices of education and 3 districts to plan for the increased number of teachers needed to fully implement universal prekindergarten.
EL-WIN developed the How to Center Multilingual Learners resource series, which synthesizes best practices for multilingual learners, early childhood systems, and other areas in ways that local and regional leaders can readily use to develop or strengthen their universal prekindergarten plans and state grant applications.
Five regions (across 6 county offices) in the Central Valley have joined the EL-WIN Central Valley Regional Network to build PreK-3rd grade educator workforce pathways in ways that center diverse educators and center multilingual learners.
